The Parliament’s minority has initiated a motion or proceedings to have Ken Ofori-Atta fired, and the majority has also decided to ignore the upcoming 2023 budget presentation unless Ofori-Atta is removed from his position as finance minister.
Recently, the public domain has mounted huge pressure on the government, especially the finance minister, the vice president, and the president of the nation due to the rise in inflation and the depreciation of the cedi to the US dollar.
This has called for a motion to dismiss the finance minister due to the crisis in the nation.
In light of the motion to remove the finance minister, it appears that the minority and majority members of parliament are on the same page.
The lawmakers justified their stance by saying that it was the government’s bad economic management that had prompted them to take action.
Ahmed Ibrahim, the deputy chief whip of the minority, said, Members of Parliament (MPS), as representatives of the people and as duty bearers, they must move or sign a motion to ask for the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta to be removed from office.
He added that lots of people think this way and the majority believes that as well. What Majority should do is back the Minority Leader’s motion to fire the Finance Minister.
