KNUST student allegedly killed by friend to avoid debt

In order to avoid the payment of debt, a KNUST student has allegedly been killed by a friend who lured him into an enclosed area.

According to reports, a student of KNUST allegedly pursued a friend to collect a debt, but the friend, in order to avoid paying the debt he’s being pursued for, allegedly lured the student into a bush and slayed him.

The said friend, according to reports, is in police custody for alleged murder. The alleged killer identified as Emmanuel Boateng, 25, was arrested by the police on Saturday, April 23, 2022 for alleged murder and to assist in investigations.

The actual incident is said to have occurred on April 22, 2022 in Sewua, in the Ashanti Region. Emmanuel Boateng allegedly lured the victim to a bush near Sewua, clubbed him to death, and stole his iPhone 11 pro max.

Police Investigation and alleged Confirmation

According to a report by graphic online, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the police in Feyiase received information about a body in a bush at Sewua around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022.

He claimed the police, local assembly members, and traditional leaders went to the spot and found a man in a red T-shirt and blue pants.

The young man lying in the bush, identified as Kwaku Adu Gyamfi, a KNUST level 200 student, was found dead.

It was discovered about 200 meters away from the body that a stick believed to have been used in the murder had been used to swell the neck and gushing blood from the nose.

The Incident

Police say, according to investigations, that Emmanuel Boateng, visited the deceased at his house around 9 a.m. that day and afterwards, the friend, Kwaku Adu Gyamfi never returned home but his body was discovered in the bush instead.

Mr Ahianyo claims the suspect later informed police during questioning that he owed the deceased money to help him prepare for school.

ASP Ahianyo stated that the suspect said he lured the deceased to an area to show him a plot his mother was developing.

When they reached their destination, suspect then told the deceased to wait while he attended nature’s call.

Boateng allegedly beat the deceased with a stick in the neck and took his phone away.

The phone was taken from the suspect’s chamber and the body of the deceased has been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.
