To provide strategic direction towards the attainment of the objectives of the Department of Media Relation.

Responsibilities:
The Director, Department of Media Relations shall:
- Plan and design draft strategies to improve media reintions within the Parliamentary Service
- Develop and implement strategies, policies, procedures and guidelines for the management of the operations of the Department of Media relations
- Plan, coordinate and provide appropriate responses to all media requests.
- Oversee the scheduling and facilitation of media access to appropriate departments/ offices for
interviews, etc - Oversee the preparation of media releases and website content produced by staff, agencies and
contractor - Manage content development for media releases, briefings, speeches; reports, feature articles, and brochures on behalf of the Services. Nurture relations with the media/ press increase and organize
periodic media briefings - Prepare a budget for the department for incorporation into the annual budget of the institution
- Conduct performance appraisal for staff of the Department
- Lead the process of developing and implementing departmental strategic plans to be factored into Strategic Plan of the institution, Ensure safety and health practices in the Department
- Maintain a positive working relationship among staff of the Department and other Departments within the institution
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned
Qualification/ Experience
- A good First depree in Mass Communications, Journalism or a relevant discipline from a recognised
university with a minimum of ten (10) years post qualification experience and a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least five (5) years in a senior management position in a Public Service institution - A Professional Certificate in Law will be an added advantage
Age Limit
Applicants should not be above fifty (50) years of age by the date of appointment to post
