Ireland Government Scholarship 2023

The Ireland Government Scholarship for 2023 is finally open for applications. People of all nationalities who want to pursue a Postgraduate programme (Master’s or PhD in Ireland) can do so with equal opportunity.

The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science is funding this scholarship.

This scholarship will cover for One – Four years depending on the type of program the student may be pursuing.

Requirements:

There is no age restriction for eligibility for either program type.
Candidates apply for a master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s and those applying for PhD programmes should also possess a master’s degree at the time of application
All applicants must be afflicted/admitted into an Irish school eligible for the scholarship. Click here to see the list of eligible schools
All applicants must take and pass an eligibility test on the online application system before they may access an application form.
You should be proficient in the English language or Irish (both written and oral).
Your supervisors and academic referees must write glowing recommendations for you.
Applicants may not have failed the same program twice. This holds true regardless of whether the applicant’s host institution or research topic has changed.

With the exception of research world related to the treatment of gonad cancer, which may be funded, the Irish Research Council is not in a position to grant funding for research activity in any of the following prohibited areas:
- Human cloning for reproductive purposes
- Genetic modification of people that could make such changes heritable
- Creation of human embryos solely for the purpose of research or for the purpose of stem cell procurement

Scholarship Benefits:

Scholarship recipients will receive a living stipend of €18,500 per year
You will enjoy an annual contribution to fees, up to a maximum of €5,750, including non-EU fees; and
Annual allowable direct research expenses of €3,250.
