A Nigerian chef, Actress, TV Presenter and content creator, Hilda Baci has officially broken the current Guinness World Record for longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Hilda Baci broke the record which was previously held by an Indian chef called, Indian chef, Lata Tondon. Lata set this record in 2019 with a nonstop cooking duration of 87 hours, 45 minutes.
The Breaking Of The Guinness Cooking Marathon Record By Hilda
The Nigerian chef began the breaking of this record from 4pm on 11th May, 2023 and is set to end her cooking at 4pm on 15th May 2023 (Nigerian time).
By 4 p.m. (Nigerian time) on May 15, 2023, Hilda Baci had accomplished her 96-hour cooking objective for this project. The audience outside, however, persuaded her to cook for an additional 4 hours in order to reach the 100-hour milestone. And sure enough, she delivered. Guinness is currently examining all relevant information to formally certify her as the new record holder.

The « Cook-a-thon » as she tagged her cooking marathon is took place at Amore Gardens at Lekki. Many people gathered at the Amore Gardens to support and boost Hilda’s morale.
Sponsors of this cook-a-thon provided majority of the food items, ingredients, cooking utensils, etc. Therefore, she is not the sole sponsor of the project.
Each and every dish Hilda prepared was served to guests present at the event. Therefore, she cooked for free for four days straight for Nigerians.
This implies that Hilda literally did not sleep for four days. According to the Guinness rules:
- she is required to stand to cook, she is not permitted to sit while cooking.
- While cooking, she can’t drink coffee, stimulants etc to boost her energy
- She is permitted to consume food, water, or fruit juice, as well as glucose.
- She can only take 5 minutes resting break every hour
