A concerned and worried man has filed for a divorce from his wife of 10 years on the grounds that his wife is too beautiful and is afraid she may leave him for another man.
Arnold Masuka, 40, testified before Chief Chireya’s court in Gokwe that he was terrified to leave his wife, Hilda Mleya, 30, alone because he was afraid that she would be tempted to leave him for another man.
According to the Zambian Observer, Arnold blamed the attractiveness and beauty of his wife for giving him sleepless nights and worry.
He stated he’d let it go, but didn’t feel he could trust her again. He also claimed that she regularly belittled him in front of his kids and showed little regard for his role as the family’s head.
The couple has two school-aged children, the court heard. Although Chief Chireya urged Masuka to rethink his decision and try to save his marriage, Masuka was adamant about ending his marriage.
The judge denied the divorce filed by the man and instead ordered the pair to attend marriage counseling.
Some have criticized the man for being weak and letting his insecurity cause him to divorce his lovely wife. But then others have argued that the main cause could be because the man is not getting enough respect from his wife.
