It’s official! Guinness World Records has confirmed Hilda Baci as the new Record Holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef and content creator, cooked for 100 hours non-stop in May 2023. Her aim was to break the record which was previously held by an Indian chef called Lata Tondon. Lata set this record in 2019 with a nonstop cooking duration of 87 hours, 45 minutes. With a 96 hour cook-a-ton as her target, Hilda Baci’s fans persuaded her to cook for extra 4 hours making it 100 hours of non stop cooking.
On May 16, 2023, Guiness World Records (GWR) officially posted on their Twitter page that, they acknowledge Hilda’s attempt and their records team is going to reviewing the evidence from the cooking marathon in order to officially pronounce her a record holder.
The Official Pronouncement
At exactly 9:53 am today, 13th June, 2023, GWR pronounced Hilda as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Even though Chef Hilda is the new record holder, she was only awarded 93 hours 11 minutes out of the 100 hour duration she cooked.
Why Did Guinness World Records Confirm Only 93 hours and 11 minutes?
The records team asserts that Hilda’s interim rest breaks were wrongly calculated. Therefore, GWR did not give her the 100-hour cook-a-thon record.

- There must be two items or foods being prepared or cooked at the same time
- The number, name and weight of every cooked item must be submitted
- Participants are allowed only Five minutes break for every hour they complete
