The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has outlined a four-step online recruitment process for applicants seeking to join the Armed Forces. Before starting the application, prospective candidates should carefully read the entry requirements and prepare all the information and documents needed.
Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Entry Requirements
General Requirements
Applicants for the Regular officer Cadet Course must:
- Be a Ghanaian citizen of good character
- Be medically fit according to GAF standards
- Be able to pass the Pre-Joining Fitness Test
- Be unmarried and not bonded
- Be 18 – 26 years old by 18 February 2027
Height Requirements
- Male applicants: Minimum 1.68 metres (5 feet 6 inches)
- Female applicants: Minimum 1.60 metres (5 feet 2 inches)
- Military Police: Minimum 1.75 metres for males and 1.70 metres for females
Academic Requirements
- Applicants using BECE must have six credits (Grades 1–6), including English Language, Mathematics and Science.
- Applicants using WASSCE must have six credits (A1–C6), including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science.
- Applicants using SSSCE must have six credits (A–D), including the required core subjects.
- For the City & Guilds route, applicants must have five O-Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three A-Level subjects graded A–D.
Regular Career Officer Course
- Applicants seeking entry through the Regular Career Officer Course must have a first degree with at least Second Class Lower from an accredited university or institution. The required field of study depends on the selected career stream.
- Eligible areas include Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Supply and Transport, Education, Public Relations, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and other listed specialisations.
- Additional advantage: Proficiency in French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, German or Swahili is an added advantage.
How to Apply for Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment
Step 1: Read the Entry Requirements
Applicants should carefully go through the GAF recruitment entry requirements before beginning the application. Make sure you understand the requirements and have the necessary information and documents ready.
Step 2: Purchase an Electronic Voucher
Applicants must purchase an Electronic Voucher for GH₵200 from designated Ghana Post offices.
- Greater Accra Region: Burma Camp, Accra North, GPO, Cantonments, Dansoman, Legon, Madina, TUC, Kaneshie, Ministries, Mamprobi, New Achimota, Tema Community 1, Tema Community 11 and Kasoa.
- Central Region: Cape Coast, Agona Swedru, Saltpond, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Winneba, Elmina and Apam.
- Upper West Region: Wa, Lawra and Tumu.
- Upper East Region: Bawku, Navrongo and Bolgatanga.
- Ashanti Region: Kumasi Main, KNUST, Ashanti-Mampong, Bekwai-Ashanti, Konongo, Obuasi, Offinso, Ejura, Juaso, Akrokerri, Ejisu and Agogo.
- Eastern Region: Koforidua, Nkawkaw, Mpraeso, Suhum, Akim Oda, Aburi, Asamankese, Akropong-Akuapem, Somanya, Akosombo and Nsawam.
- Volta Region: Ho, Anloga, Keta, Hohoe, Kpando, Denu, Peki and Sogakope.
- Western Region: Sekondi, Takoradi, Tarkwa, Enchi and Axim.
- Western North Region: Enchi, Sefwi Wiawso and Bibiani.
- Bono Region: Sunyani, Berekum, Bechem, Atebubu and Dormaa Ahenkro.
- Bono East Region: Techiman and Kintampo.
- Ahafo Region: Goaso and Duayaw Nkwanta.
- Northern Region: Tamale, Education Ridge and Yendi.
- North East Region: Nalerigu and Walewale.
- Oti Region: Dambai, Nkwanta, Jasikan and Kadjebi.
- Savanna Region: Bole and Damango.
Step 3: Access the GAF Recruitment Portal
The GAF enlistment portal be accessed from Friday, 4 September 2026 at 11:59 PM.
Applicants should CLICK HERE TO ACCESS APPLICATION PORTAL
NB: Make sure you are using either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
Enter your card Serial Number and PIN code, select your preferred Arm of Service and Type of Commission, then click Submit.
Step 4: Complete the Online Application
The application requires information to be provided across three pages.
Page 1 – Vacancy and Screening Centre
- Select your desired vacancy.
- Provide the other required personal information.
- Select your preferred screening centre:
- Southern Centre – Accra
- Northern Centre – Kumasi
Page 2 – Personal Details
Applicants must:
- Enter their biodata.
- Upload a scanned passport-sized photograph measuring 200 × 180 pixels.
- Provide a valid email address.
- Provide a personal mobile number in the required format, for example 233244888811.
- Complete the other required fields.
Page 3 – Educational Information
Applicants must enter the results of the three required core subjects from their WASSCE/SSCE results slip:
- Core Mathematics
- Core English
- Core Science
You must also provide your:
- WASSCE Index Number
- Certificate Serial Number
- Selected tertiary institution
- Graduating GPA/CWA
The following documents must be uploaded:
- WASSCE Certificate
- First Degree/Certificate (Degree)
Document Upload Requirements
Each scanned document must:
- Be in PDF format only.
- Not exceed 1 MB in size.
NB:This requirement applies to the passport photograph, WASSCE Certificate and Degree.
Review and Submit Your Application
After completing all three pages, click Preview to see a summary of the information you have entered. Review every detail carefully. If you find an error, use the Back button to return to the relevant section and make the correction before submitting.
Once you are satisfied that the information is correct, click Submit.
Application Confirmation and GAF ID Number
After successful submission, applicants should receive an instant email and text message containing their unique, system-generated Identification Number (GAF ID Number).
Print and keep a copy of the generated application summary report. Applicants who are shortlisted will be required to present this report during the selection process.
If you lose your copy, you can return to the GAF enlistment portal, select Check Details, enter your unique ID and reprint the report.
Important: Keep the used Electronic Voucher safely. It will be inspected at every stage of the selection process.
GAF Recruitment Screening Centres
The enlistment process will be conducted at two centres:
