Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote has stated that if Ghana wins and progresses to the FIFA World Cup ahead of his country, Nigeria, he will not watch nor attend the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
“ I won’t watch World Cup if Ghana beats Nigeria” the Billionaire made it clear in a statement.
Nigeria was paired with arch rivals Ghana in the African World Cup play-offs draw in Douala. This means the Black Stars of Ghana must overcome Nigeria in the play-offs in March to qualify for next year’s World Cup.
This game has been labeled one of the largest on the continent due to the two countries’ shared history.
After witnessing the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Dangote urged the Super Eagles to do Nigeria proud.
Through his Dangote Industries Group, business mogul Aliko Dangote gave financial help for the pitch’s rehabilitation.
He also stated that if Nigeria fails to qualify for the World Cup, he will not attend the event in Qatar.
Dangote stated “I won’t watch World Cup if Ghana beats Nigeria”
“It is crucial not only to me, but to all of us here, because that is what will make us proud as Nigerians,” the businessman added, according to sunnewsonline.com.
“I won’t go to Qatar if Nigeria doesn’t qualify for the World Cup.”
He also promised to continue to help the country’s sports growth by complementing the government’s efforts.
“You can count on our continuing assistance. Dangote told Sports Minister Sunday Dare, “You can always knock on our doors.”
“We must not allow our stadiums to fall apart.” Nigerians have a tremendous passion for sports, so I believe we should support the government’s efforts to guarantee that everything runs well.”
