Specific Entry Criteria for Ghana Army Recruitment 2025

Ghana Army Recruitment for Armed Forces

This article provides a comprehensive overview of the various branches and categories posted by the Ghana Armed Forces, as well as the qualifications required to serve in each role as part of the current nationwide recruitment. Category A of the recruitment process entails the various qualifications for Ghana Army trades as stated below:

Category A- Army Branches & Their Qualifications:

General Eligibility

1. Eligible applicant must:

a. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.

b. Be of good character.

c. Be not less than 18 years of age and not more than 25 years for Non – Tradesmen and not more than 27 years for Tradesmen
by 30 December 2025.

d. Be medically fit by Armed Forces standards.

e. Be not married.

f. Be not bonded.

g. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6″) for males and 1.57m (5’2″) for females. For Military Police only; be of a minimum height of 1.75m (5’9″) for males and 1.70m (5’7″) for females.

h. Must have six (6) Credits (Not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.

i. Have six passes (Up to Grade D7 for Army Candidates in English and Mathematics and other 4 passes and grade C6 for Navy and Airforce in all subjects) at WASSCE or the requisite credit/passes in respective trade qualifications from GES at Intermediate or Advance Level.

Special Requirements

All applicants for the various sections must fulfill the general eligibility criteria in addition to the requirements for the various divisions below:

a. Infantry/Armour/Artillery/ Military Police

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have 6 Passes at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.

b. Pay Corps

c. Engineer Corps.

Applicants must have Technical, Vocational, Diploma or Certificate in any of the following

1. Electricians.

2. Plant Mechanics/Fitters

3. Survey Assistants

4. Painting/Sign writing

5. Plumbers & Masons

6. Wood Construction Technology (Carpentry)

7. Welder & Steel Bender.

GES Intermediate Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Technology.

8. Topo/Architectural Draughtsman.

9. Plant Operators (Grader, Excavator, Dozer, Backhoe, Wheel Loader, Low Bed and Compactor Roller).

GES Intermediate Certificate in any of the plants stated above.

COTVET Certificate II in any of the plants stated above.

NVTI candidates must have 6 passes in JHS and Proficiency II/ Certificate I/Certificate II.

d.  Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps (EME)

You must have Technical, Vocational, Diploma or Certificate in any of the following:

 1. Automotive Technicians

2. Welding and Fabrication Technicians

3.  Office Machine Technician.

4. Driver Recovery Technician

5. Machining Technician/Weapon Technician.

6. Automobile Electricals/Electronics Technician

7. Biomedical Technician

8. Upholstery Technician

9. Hot and Cold Technician

e.  Signal Corps

1. System Operators General

2. Network Technicians

At least one of the Diploma/Certificates below:

3. Hardware Technicians.

Have a Diploma/Certificate in

4. Radio Technician

Diploma or Certificates in:

5. Telephone Technician.

Possess a certificate or diploma in one of the following:

 

f. Information Technology (IT).

Diploma or Certificate in any of the following:

g. Supply and Transport Corps

  1. Drivers: Professional Driving Licence Class B. (Minimum Class B).
  2. Supply Clerks/Storeman: Certificate in computer software applications (Word, Excel, Access Corel Drawing etc) from an accredited institution.
  3. Movement: Diploma/Certificate in Freight Forwarding/Air, Travel and Tour from a recognized school.
  4. Fireman/Woman: Certificate in Fire Fighting from National Fire Service plus professional Driving License class B
  5. Cooks: HND in Catering/Diploma in Catering/NVTI Cert & Il/Proficiency II.

h. Public Relations Corps

1.  Information Assistants

2. Photographers

3. Cinematographer

i. Ordnance Corps

  1. Storeman/Woman: Diploma in Business Studies and HND in Purchasing and Supply
  2. Ammunition Technicians: In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 passes at WASSCE and must be a science student.
  3. Tailors/Textiles & Cobblers/ Leather Works: GES Intermediate Certificate / COVET Certificate II / NVTI Grade I & II

j. Clerk General Duties

  1. Teachers Post-Secondary Certificate A
  2. Teachers Post-Secondary Certificate A (French)
  3. Diploma in Education
  4. Diploma in Education (French)

How To Apply for the 2025 Recruitment

Any Candidate who wish to be part of the Ghana Armed Forces are to acquire an Electronic voucher at TWO HUNDRED GHANA CEDIS (GH¢200.00) from the following designated Post Offices:

8. WESTERN REGION Sekondi, Takoradi, Tarkwa, Axim
9. WESTERN NORTH REGION Enchi, Sefwi Wiawso
10. BONO REGION Sunyani, Berekum, Bechem, Atebubu, Dormaa Ahenkro,
11. BONO EAST REGION Techiman, Kintampo
12. AHAFO REGION Goaso, Duayaw Nkwanta
13. NORTHERN REGION Tamale, Education Ridge, Yendi, Nalerigu, Walewale
14. NORTH EAST REGION Nalerigu, Walewale
15. OTI REGION Dambai, Jasikan, Kadjebi
16. SAVANNA REGION Bole, Damango
  • Enter your card serial number, pin code and select your preferred arm of service, type of qualification i.e. (Non- Tradesman or Tradesman) and click Next.
  • Log on to the recruitment portal @ http://apply.mil.gh with any of the following browsers;
    (1) Google Chrome.
    (2) Mozilla Firefox.
  • Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.
  • Ensure your mobile phone’s Cell Broadcast Message Service is turned “ON”. This can be done by going through the following steps on your phone:

a. Messages
b. Message Settings
c. Find “Cell Broadcast / Broadcast Message / CB Activation / Advertisement” depending on your brand of mobile phone.
d. Set activation “ON”.
e. Set all channels to “receive”.

  • Click on the Apply Now Tab to open the applicant authentication page.
  • Enter your personal details and take note of the following from pages 1 to 3:

a. Page 1: Select your desired vacancy and preferred regional screening centre for physical examination from the venues listed below:
(1) Greater Accra – Accra, El-Wak Sports Stadium.
(2) Central Region – Cape Coast, Sports Stadium.
(3) Upper West Region – Wa, BK Adama Youth Resource Centre.
(4) Upper East Region – Bolga, Jubilee Park.
(5) Ashanti Region – Kumasi, Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
(6) Eastern Region – Koforidua, Youth Resource Centre.
(7) Volta Region – Ho, Sports Stadium.
(8) Western Region – Sekondi, Gyandu Park.
(9) Bono Region – Sunyani, Coronation Park.
(10) Northern Region – Tamale, Sports Stadium.
(11) Oti Region – Dambai Training College.
(12) Western North Region – Sefwi, Bibiani Community International Park.
(13) Bono East Region – Techiman, Astro Turf Park.
(14) Ahafo Region – Goaso, Nana Bosomprah Astro Turf.
(15) North East Region – Nalerigu, Astro Turf.
(16) Savanna Region – Damango Astro Turf.

b. Page 2: Upload a scanned copy of your passport sized photograph of dimension (200 x 180 pixels), enter a valid e-mail address, personal mobile phone number in the format (233244123456) and enter any other required data. NB: Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE, Trade/Technical certificate,) to be uploaded, shall not exceed 1(One) Megabyte.

c. Page 3: Enter the results of WASSCE/SSCE and BECE including TWO required core subjects on your Certificate, that is; CORE MATHEMATICS AND CORE ENGLISH. Enter your WASSCE Index number, WASSCE results slip serial number, and BECE Index number. Upload only scanned copies of the following: WASSCE or Trade Certificate. NB: Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE, Trade/Technical certificate,) to be uploaded, shall not exceed 1(One) Megabyte and should be in PDF format only.

  • Click on the Preview Button to see a summary page of all data provided. Read through this page carefully and click on the back button, if there are any modifications to be made.
  • Click on the submit button and expect an instant e-mail and text message, which includes your unique system generated Alpha Numeric Identification Number.
  • Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it, if you are Shortlisted. However, if you lose your copy of the report, go back to the recruitment portal, click on the Check Details Tab, enter your unique identification number sent to you by SMS/E-Mail and order a re-print.
  • Closing Date. Closing date for submission of all online applications is Friday 31 October 2025.

Administration

  • Transportation/Feeding/Accommodation. Applicants are responsible for their own transportation, feeding and accommodation throughout the recruitment exercise.
  • Only short-listed applicants will be invited for further physical screening.
