Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced a groundbreaking initiative during the 57th Congregation at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He proclaimed that soon, Ghanaians will be able to use the Ghana Card to buy cars on credit, paying in convenient instalments.
Dr. Bawumia, throwing more light on the the government’s digitalization efforts, pointed out the ongoing deliberations with local automakers, particularly Solar Taxi, to roll out this program. The Ghana Card will have a dominant function as the singular requirement for these transactions.
This visionary step is in line with broader strives to integrate digital conditions into various aspects of the economy. By extending credit options for purchasing cars, the government aims to enhance accessibility for citizens. This, according to Bawumia, is aimed at promoting economic growth and individual mobility.
Dr. Bawumia heightened the transformative capability of the Ghana Card, turning it into the cornerstone of a credit system.
The Vice President stated that their forward-looking approach will also streamline processes. He also added that it shows the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for the benefit of the people.
He hinted that dialogues are in progress with Solar Taxi and other local manufacturers. For that reason, Ghanaians can anticipate a future where they can buy cars easily and and pay in flexible instalment.
