The general public is informed that Wednesday, September 21, 2022 has been declared as a Statutory Public Holiday in Ghana.
Why is Wednesday a Public Holiday?
Wednesday, 21st September, 2022 is recognized as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day because it marks the birthday of Ghana’s first president Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
This day is a Statutory Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
Parliament passed the revised Public Holidays Act of 2018 in 2018 to update the Public Holidays Act of 2001.
The new law replaced three public holidays, including September 21, with the January 7 and August 4 holidays.
Conclusion
This information (Declaration) was made known to the general public as a result of a press release by the Ministry of Interior, signed by the Minister For The Interior, Ambrose Dery (Mp). The statement was issued on September 14, 2022.
This declared Wednesday, September 21, 2022 as a Public Holiday.
