If you dream to join the Ghanaian military as a Navy Corp, then you are at the right place because this article presents to you all naval divisions and their requirements.
Available Divisions & Criteria For Navy:
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have the educational credentials under one of these branches:
a. Executive Branch
Applicants must have an undergraduate background not below Second Class Lower from a recognized Institution in one of these:
- Nautical Science.
- Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Statistics, Geology.
- Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Agricultural Engineering.
- Oceanography or Geomatic/Geodetic Engineering/Hydrography
- Aerospace Engineering.
b. Technical unit
Candidates should have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the these:
- Marine/Mechanical/Electrical/Communication/Agricultural Engineering
- Marine Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Naval Architecture.
c. Supply and Secretariat wing
Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the courses below with at least Second Class Lower from a known University or equivalent Professional Institution:
- Administration (Human Resource/Accounting/Marketing/Banking & Finance).
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
- Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
- Economics/Logistics/Commerce.
- Purchasing and Supply.
- Hospitality Management.
- Preference will be given to applicants with additional certificates in the following:
- Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) – Level 5.
- Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) – Final Part.
d. Administration section
A baccalaureate with a minimum of Second Class Lower from an accredited school or equivalent Professional Institution in either of the courses outlined:
- Administration (Human Resource/Accounting/Marketing/Banking & Finance).
- Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resource)
- Business Management
- Public Administration.
- Port and Shipment Administration.
- Management Studies.
- Information Studies.
- Secretaryship and Management Studies.
- Preference will be given to applicants with additional certificates in the following:

- Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration (ICSA) – Final Part.
- Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM) – Final Part.

e. Engineer Corps
An Undergraduate qualification (Second Class Lower or higher) from a recognized Institution in any of the following:
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical/Renewable Energy Engineering.
- Mechanical/ Agricultural Engineering.
- Building Technology/Construction Management and Quantity Surveying
- Geomatic/Geodetic Engineering
- Structural Engineering.
- Agricultural Engineering.
f. Combat Engineers
A bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields with at least a second-class lower honors from an accredited university or institution:
- Civil Engineering
- Engineering in Electrical/Renewable Energy
- Agricultural/Mechanical Engineering
- Quantity surveying, building technology/construction management
- Engineering in Geomatic/Geodetic
- Structural Engineering
- Project management
g. Electrical/Electronic engineers
Possess a minimum of a Second Class Lower Honors degree from a recognized university or institution in one of the following fields:
- BSc. Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- BTech Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- BSc. Instrumentation Engineering
- BSc Biomedical Engineering
- BSc Computer Engineering
h. Mechanical Engineers
Should hold a Bachelor from an accredited school (at least Second Class Lower honors) (BSc) in one of the following areas:
- BSc. Mechanical Engineering.
- BSc. Material Engineering.
- BSc. Agricultural Engineering
- BSc. Industrial Engineering
- BSc. Automobile Engineering
i. Ordnance Corps (Base Ammunition Depot Only)
Applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
- Chemistry/Biochemistry.
- Industrial Chemistry/Physics.
- Chemical Engineering.
- Telecommunication Engineering.
- Statistics.
- Mathematics.
- Certification in Ammunition Technology/Explosive Ordnance Disposal Level 3 will be an added advantage
j. Education Corps.
First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized tertiary school in any of the following languages:

- Language Translation/Interpretation in French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, German and Chinese.
- German and Portuguese as third language may be preferable.
k. Public Relations
Degree not below Second Class Lower in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution:
- Communication Studies or Fine Arts (NAFTI).
- Public Relations.
- Journalism.
