The Tamale Teaching Hospital is looking for someone to fill the post of Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services. General Eligibility Criteria
This is a full-time, fixed-term management job for a limited time of four (4) years, with the possibility of being extended based on agreed-upon performance standards. So, as a general rule, applicants can’t be older than FIFTY-SIX (56) years by MAY 1, 2023.
Job summary
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be in charge of giving management technical and expert advise on how to provide good nursing and midwifery services at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Duties:
- Be in charge of the Nursing and Midwifery Directorate in health care and give the Chief Executive Officer and management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital TTH) detailed advice on nursing and midwifery services.
- Take part in making policies and making plans for the future putting together the annual budget for areas of responsibility and other patient care problems that will help TTH reach its strategic goals.
- Be in charge of making sure the Tamale Teaching Hospital has good nursing and childbirth services.
- Make sure that the right policies and rules are made and standards for the smooth delivery of nursing and midwifery services in TTH. Hold regular review meetings with nurse managers and make sure the standards of nursing and midwifery services are regularly checked.
- Send the Chief Executive Officer regular and on-time reports on nursing and childbirth activities in the hospital.
- Set up and promote networks with foreign and local groups for nurses and midwives In partnership with the Ghana College of Nurses, coordinate and oversee study and nursing fellowship specialist training at TTH.
- Help with the creation and implementation of strategic plans.
- Plans for the Hospital’s nursing and midwifery programs
- Do any other tasks that the Chief may ask you to do.
Job Requirements:
- Applicants must be Registered General Nurses or Midwives with a master’s degree or higher in nursing or midwifery. They must also be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
OR
- Applicants MUST be Registered General Nurses or Midwives with a postgraduate degree in Nursing Management or Administration and in good standing with the Nursing and the Ghana Council of Midwives
- The person who wants to apply must be a Registered General Nurse or Midwife with a degree or similar in nursing or midwifery and at least TEN (10) years of experience.
- FIVE (5) of those years should be spent in management job
- At the time of application, the person must have four years of work experience at the level of Deputy Chief Nursing/Midwifery Officer or Deputy Director of Nursing (DDNS) and proof of continuing professional growth in the field of practice.
- A fellowship program from the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Midwives or an institution of higher study that is recognized as being equivalent desirable
- The person must have been a leader in the field of work and have at least a certificate in Health Leadership and Management, Health Project Management, Health Service Monitoring and Evaluation, and Public Administration.
