IT Trainee At WAPCo

West African Pipeline company limited (WAPCO)

The service of an IT trainee needed at the WAPCo‘s IT Department in Accra. This is a contract work.

Key Accountabilities:  

(1) Support Business Application Systems Within WAPCo

  • Support technical maintenance and usage support of business application systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain PC systems using the tool (MDT).
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Install and test upgrades and patches.
  • Provide Business Application training.

(2) Technical/Hardware Support

  • Install and configure computer hardware components.
  • Perform hardware upgrades and replacements as needed.
  • Provide support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues, as the key contact person on the Service desk.
  • Respond to service desk tickets, assign them to the appropriate technical representative and follow up for problem resolution promptly.
    (3) Software / Website Support
  • Support the Application development team in testing and deployment.
  • Collaborate with other team members on projects.
  • Assist team in monitoring all business applications and databases to ensure high uptime and quick resolution of problems.
  • Assist team in maintaining records on downtime of applications and databases.
  • Assist team in monitoring and reporting resource utilization. (Memory, CPU, Storage).

Educational Qualifications/ Working Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, Electrical and Electronics
  • Engineering, IT or a related field. Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience including completing national service.
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts.
  • Understanding of database management systems and IT Operations.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Logical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.
