There are two kinds of traineeships available through the European Parliament: those with European Parliament Members and those in the Secretariat (Schuman traineeships).
The opportunities are undertake at the European Parliament’s official places of work – Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg – or in its Liaison Offices in the Member States.
Recruitment Standards:
- Candidates must be 18 years or above
- You must be an EU citizen or come from a country that is trying to join the Union. People from other countries can still apply but only a few will be chosen
- Applicants should have a university level diploma
- Be very proficient in one of the official EU language and a good knowledge in a second. In addition, those from non-member States are expected to have very good command of either English, French or German.
- Should not have worked for more than two months in a row for a European Union organisation, body, or agency, or benefited from any other kind of traineeship
- Not have carried out a study visit at the Secretariat of the European Parliament six months prior to the beginning of the traineeship.
- Provide an eligible criminal record

- Click on the APPLY ONLINE button
- Then complete NEW REGISTRATION FORM with your personal data
- After registering, choose an offer you would like to apply for again
- Login to your account
- Upload your CV (Europasd Format Only)
- Upload motivation letter per traineeship offer (One page Max.)
After Applying, What Next?
- A shortlist of applicants will be made, this happens between these periods:
- For October Entries – 1st to 15th July
- For March Entries – 1st – 15th December
- After getting shortlisted, you would be required to upload the underlisted documents:
- ID/Passport
- University diploma(s)
- Criminal Records
- You will then be contacted by theTrainee Outreach and Recruitment Unit with an offer
- When you accept the offer, you will receive an admission letter that will officially make you a Schuman trainee
Application Windows:
Window 1: Apply from 1st – 31st May (For a training that starts on 1st October and ends on 28:29th February)
Window 2: Apply from 1st – 31st October (For a program that begins on 1st March and ends on 31st July)
Additional Information:
- Spontaneous applications will be rejected
- You can only apply for three vacancies per campaign, therefore, whoever applies for more than three within a campaign would be disqualified
