To provide strategic direction towards the attainment of the objectives of the Department of Public Engagement.

Responsibilities:
The Director, Department of Public Engagement shall:
- Develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive communications propramme that will enhance the corporte image and position of Parliament to all stakeholders
- Serve as an official spokesperson for
Parliamentary Services. Oversee organizational response to enquiries about Parliamentary Services, - Oversee the planning and coordination of public education initiatives, courtesy visits etc in line with Parliamentary Services’ communication strategy,
- Liaise with departments to promote understanding of the Parliamentary Services; strategy, operations and objectives to ensure consistency of messages to external publics
- Provide leadership in the organisations of public forums, durbars, events, consultation mectings etc
- Prepare a budget for the department for incorporation into the annual budget of the institution
- Conduct performance appraisal for staff of the Department
- Lead the process of developing and implementing departmental strategic plans to be factored into Strategic Plan of the institution, Ensure safety and health practices in the Department
- Maintain a positive working relationship among staff of the Department and other Departments within the institution
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned
Qualification/ Experience
- A good First depree in Mass Communications, Journalism or a relevant discipline from a recognised
university with a minimum of ten (10) years post qualification experience and a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least five (5) years in a senior management position in a Public Service institution - A Professional Certificate in Law will be an added advantage
Age Limit
Applicants should not be above fifty (50) years of age by the date of appointment to post
