Following the condom sponsorship at the Nacee concert, Minister Gyedu has called out the singer for this act, describing it as wrong.
The gospel singer explained why his inaugural concert, Kavod, has a condom company as a sponsor.
In a Joy Prime interview, Nacee justified the promotion, stating that, it helps the company profit. He went ahead to say that it will allow employees and employers to pay their tithe in church.
Nacee also mentioned that promoting the Kingdom of God is good, but money is necessary. Regardless of the business, God accepts tithes. “We need money to push the kingdom. We buy Bibles,” he enunciated.
When asked if condoms would be distributed at the event, he responded, “I’m sure the company will provide some giveaways.” Find out more about Nacee’s explanation here.
Nonetheless, Minister Quame Gyedu later criticized Nacee and other gospel musicians who use alcoholic and condom companies to sponsor their programs. Speaking on Kessben TV’s Around Town Show, he defended that gospel artists shouldn’t always prioritize money.
Gyedu’s take on this has cause some kind of tension within the gospel music community.
While financial support is good for the promotion of religious activities, the choice of sponsors, especially those associated with certain products calls for doubts about the alignment of values in gospel music.
