Hiplife singer, Mzbel, on Joy Prime recounted how something that happened at KNUST during her performance almost destroyed her career.
She disclosed that due to the scandal’s popularity, she suffered business setbacks. Mzbel went on that even securing collaborations with companies became difficult. Many shied away from associating themselves with her.
This very much affected her, most importantly when media trends linked to her are predominantly negative. She was ver frustrated that some media outlets painted a bad picture of her instead of supporting her.
At this moment Mzbel was recalling something that took place in 2005 where she was assaulted by students as she a performed at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Mzbel u derlined how media coverage, rather than showing sympathy, blamed her choice of attire for the the occurrence.
Mzbel detailed that she doesn’t object to media coverage of scandals involving public figures. However, she hoped for a more balanced reporting. She bemoaned that this enables other artists and herself to engage in lucrative business agreements without fear of backlash.
In unrelated updates, Adepa Okomfo Black, Mzbel’s son, has fired back at criticism received after his virulent interview. He spoke during a live video alongside his mother, dealing with the backlash from Christians. He said that Christians lack awareness, relying solely on the Bible. Read
