KNUST Admissions

Admission is now open for the 2025/2026 academic year at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The portal is open for both local and foreign students who are looking to pursue undergraduate degrees. The renowned institution offers a wide range of courses in areas like social sciences, humanities, sciences, engineering, agriculture and natural resources just to mention a few.

Eligibility Criteria For 2025/2026 Admission To KNUST:

The admission portal is open for the following applicants:

1. SSCE/WASSCE Holders

    • Those in this category must have credit passes (A1 – C6 / A – D) in English, Mathematics and integrated Science
    • Plus good passes in 3 elective subjects
    • Overall, your total aggregates must be 24 or better

OR

General Business Certificate (GBCE) and Advanced Business Certificate (ABCE)

    • Credit passes in at least SIX (6) subjects including English Language and Business Mathematics at the GBCE and,
    • Credit passes in the THREE (3) relevant Compulsory subjects and THREE (3) Optional subjects at the ABCE. Applicants need both GBCE and ABCE to qualify.

2. GCE Advanced Level Holders

    • Good passes in a minimum of 5 O’ Level Subjects including English and Maths; in addition to 3 relevant courses

3. Mature Applicants (25 years or older)

    • Candidates in this category are expected to provide of Birth Certificate or any documentary proof of date of birth. Please note that these requested documents should be at least 5 years old
    • Additionally. Applicants should have the following qualifications:
      • SSCE/WASSCE (your overall performance in this exam must align with the requirements in point 1)
      • Alternatively, candidates may be Advanced Level Holders of GCE falling right within the requirements as stated in point 2. Students are also required to passing an Entrance Examination and/or Interview
      • The final option is to be an HND bearer with three (3) years of work experience while meeting the minimum Entry Requirements at WASSCE/SSSCE or GCE O’ Level

4. International applicants and all others who have any of the above qualifications or their equivalent from an accredited/recognized institution may apply.

5. Besides to the Basic Criteria, applicants from French-speaking nations must present a minimum of one year’s worth of English proficiency certificates.

Cost Of Application E-Voucher:

  • Ghanaian entrants are to pay: GH¢250 
  • International students/non-ghanaians are expected to pay: $110

NB: Ghanaian Applicants who apply with foreign qualifications from schools in Ghana which write the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the IGCSE should purchase the E-Voucher for GH¢250.00

How To Apply To KNUST For Undergraduate Admission

Presently, the new KNUST admission portal allows users to purchase their vouchers directly on the portal.

Furthermore, all candidates have to sign up using their email address and password. Make sure your email is valid and active. A verification link will be sent to the email address you provide. Click the link in the email message sent by KNUST to verify your account. If you do not see the verification link in your inbox, check your spam box.

Ghanaian Entrants

  1. Visit this page  to sign up and verify your account
  2. Purchase an E-Voucher or Verify an existing E-Voucher

How To Buy The KNUST E-Voucher:

There are three (3) different ways you can make this purchase:

Option 1 (For All Applicants)

Buy an E-voucher using a bank card (VISA/Mastercard) or Mobile Money (All networks). After signing up and verifying your account, proceed to select the following options one after the other:

  1. Ghanaians should select: Ghanaian Applicant/ Foreign students should select: International applicant 
  2. Purchase Voucher Online
  3. Programme Type: Undergraduate
  4. Programme Stream: Regular Stream
  5. Application form category: Undergraduate Ghanaian
  6. Proceed to make payment. After making payment, you can begin the application

Option 2 (Ghanaians Only)

  1. From a mobile device, type *415*55#. Follow the prompts to pay for an E-voucher via Mobile Money (All Networks).
  2. After completing your transaction, log in to the Admissions Portal.
    Select the Ghanaian Applicant Option.
  3. Select Voucher Verification and start the application.

Option 3 (Ghanaians Only)

  1. You can buy yours from designated Ghana Post Offices.
  2. After your purchase, log in to the Admissions Portal.
  3. Select the Ghanaian Applicant Option.
  4. Choose Voucher Verification and start the application.

Applicants Should Take Note of the Following:

  • Ensure you verify your account before making the payment
  • For Options 2 and 3, make sure you have an Admissions Portal account set up before validating a previously purchased voucher
  • All prospects are advised to visit the University’s website: www.knust.edu.gh and carefully read all relevant information before applying. You are also required to visit the admissions portal at apps.knust.edu.gh/admissions to complete your application process online. 
  • All relevant and mandatory documents must be scanned and attached to the online application as follows: Birth Certificate/ECOWAS ID card/ WASSCE/SSSCE certificate/results slips, if available/or any academic/professional certificates/results slip. 
  •  After the online submission, prospects are advised to print out a copy for their own use/reference. 
  • Hard copies of the application SHOULD NOT be submitted to the University. 
  • Only results and/or documents provided by applicants at the time of submission of application shall be considered. 
  • Failure to input Examination Details (i.e. index number, year of exams and exams type) and/or other relevant information properly online shall deny the applicant admission
  • Admissions to all programmes of study at the University are transparently administered by the Central Undergraduate Admissions Committee without any other considerations and/or solicitations. 
  •  Any form of solicitation done by entrants to any person or group of persons for the purpose of influencing and/or gaining admission into the school does so at his/her own risk. 
  • Prospective students are to note that upon release of the WAEC results, the admission portal would be opened for one (1) week for applicants to make any correction or amendments with respect to their Names, Index Numbers, Year of Exam, Type of Exams, and Choice of Programmes etc. 
  • The NAME of applicants and its arrangements on the Application Form MUST be EXACTLY same as on the certificate (s)/Results Slip(s). Those who have changed their name must show proof of the new name with the Gazette or any legitimate documentary proof of the change of name which is at least 5 years old. 
    For applicants for Top-up and other mature programmes:
  • Candidates for Pharm D programme Top-Up must be a Practicing Pharmacist with Three (3) Years’ Post registration experience.
  • All Top-Up Programmes are Fee-Paying Only. 
  • Any application that is not fully and/or properly completed at the time of submission shall not be processed and/or considered. 
  • The University does not accept multiple applications from the same person during a submission window. Such entries may not be processed.
