Yale Young African Scholars Program 2024

Yale University is here with a Young African Scholars Program (YYAS) to help develop the growing generation. The 2024, program presents an online program option and a residential program option.

The YYAS Workshop is open to students from all countries in Africa and will admit approximately 200 students for the online option and 120 students for the residential option in Zimbabwe.

In order to participate in the online program students will need to have access to Zoom and Canvas on their own mobile phone, tablet, or computer. It’s important to have a reliable internet connection throughout the programme. Furthermore, those who choose the in-person option will reside on a residential school campus in Zimbabwe for ten (10) days.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be between the ages of 14 to 18 (ie. You must be born between 19th July, 2005 to 18th July, 2020)
You should be able to participate in serious academic curriculum in English
Should be a citizen or a permanent resident in an African country
Candidates should be attending school in an African country
You must be a current 10th or 11th grade student
Northern Hemisphere students must graduate secondary school by May/June 2025 and June/June 2026, while Southern Hemisphere students must graduate by November/December 2024 and November/December 2025.

Current final year or term of secondary school students
Secondary School graduates
University students

Benefits:

Zero Tuition fees
Travel grants for some students (residential in Zimbabwe)
Students will get a pdf YYAS Certificate of Completion
Free housing, meals, and all academic curriculum materials (residential in Zimbabwe)
