Are you looking to study in Japan? Then the University of Tokyo is here with the MEXT Scholarship for 2024. This is a fully funded scholarship, designed for students who wish to pursue Master’s and PhD programs at the aforementioned institution.
Eligibility Criteria:
- International students with outstanding academic records who wish to pursue Master’s or PhD studies in Japan by October 2024 are eligible to apply
- Applicants must have a final grade point of 2:30 or higher in their latest graduated program
- Candidates must be born on or after 2nd April, 1989
- You should possess the necessary qualifications to be admitted to the Graduate School of Science at the University of Tokyo
- Additionally, applicants must be physically and mentally fit to pursue further studies
- Those applying are expected to apply for course that are related to their previous programs of studies
- Proof of proficiency in the English Language is very important (TOEFL/IELTS/JLPT)
- Applicants who completed their previous educational programme primarily in English and meet the admission requirements for the Master’s or Doctoral Programme at the Graduate School of Science can apply
- Applicants must arrive at Japan with a student VISA

Ineligibility:
You cannot apply if you have the following criteria:
- You are an active military person or you are a civilian employed by the military
- You are unable to travel to Japan within the stipulated duration of the scholarship
- Individuals who do not plan to pursue regular degree programmes
- A former recipient of this very scholarship
- Those applying for the Japanese MEXT government scholarship cannot apply for this one
- If you reside in Japan, you are not eligible
- Applicants expecting to receive financial aid from other award bodies
- A person with dual citizen (both Japan and another country), but cannot provide proof of renouncing their Japanese citizenship before their arrival.
- If you are an applicant who is currently planning to do fieldwork or an internship in a country other than Japan, or if you are planning to take a long-term leave of absence
