Pavlok is an electronic company popularly known for the Pavlok watch which is a smart wristband device that helps prevent users from performing some bad habits by gently zapping users when on the verge of performing a bad habit.
Founder
The device was brought into being by Maneesh Sethi who hails from Miami, Florida. Sethi developed the passion for entrepreneurship and programming. When he was 16 years of age he published a book, Game Programming for Teens.
During his days at Stanford University, he studied society, technology, and computer science. Maneesh assumed the role of editor-in-chief of a blog known as Hack The System.
The Establishment of Pavlok
The idea for Pavlok was inspired by Maneesh’s addiction to social media. At first he tried to tackle his problem by hiring someone to slap him if he browsed social media during productive hours. He then transformed this method in 2013 to invent a wrist watch that creates different levels of shock when users try to indulge in specific bad habits. The kind of habits users want to break can be set up in the watch’s companion app.
The company was launched officially in 2014 after Maneesh Sethi raised a sum of $283,827 from an IndieGoGo campaign. After this Maneesh reportedly made sales of $800,000.

Aftermath of Shark Tank
Despite failure with Shark Tank, the founder’s memorable pitch on Shark Tank helped drive more publicity on sales to the website.
$200,000 was raised within three funding rounds comprising IncWell and MassChallenge as the leading investors. The returns was used to develop more products such as the “Shock Clock” which is an alarm clock that shocks you awake.
Subsequently, sales at Pavlok have seen a steady rise with monthly expenses reducing by about $100,000 or more.

The company is valued at about $2 million currently.
