Boy Rescued From Being Buried Alive Amid Allegations of Theft

In a harrowing incident, a young boy narrowly escaped being buried alive by his teenage brother, who accused him of stealing money.

The incident unfolded in the Apamisede neighborhood of Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. Neighbors intervened to rescue the victim, prompting a tense confrontation with the alleged perpetrator. During questioning, the teenager claimed that it was their mother who had instructed him to carry out this horrifying act, citing his younger brother’s alleged theft of 1,000 naira (equivalent to Ghc 15).

According to the teenager, his brother had a history of stealing money, and their mother, frustrated by his behavior, ordered him to bury the boy alive. He stated, “He stole money. The last time he stole money, we asked him where he put the money. I don’t know how much he stole, but he said it was 1,000 naira. The last time he stole, nobody beat him, and nobody touched him.”

Some residents suspected that the teenager might have been following instructions from a witch doctor for a money ritual. However, he denied these claims.

The shocking incident led to the teenager being confronted and even physically punished by infuriated residents. He maintained that what he did to the young boy was merely following his mother’s instructions.

The matter has been reported to the local police division, D Division, Lokoja.
