NCA to introduce shortcode to verify numbers linked to Ghana Cards

How to register or link multiple Sim Cards to your Ghana Card

The management of the National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced the intention to introduce a shortcode that will help verify phone numbers associated or check the quantity of SIM cards associated with a certain Ghana Card.

People’s reports of suspicious activity involving the numbers on their Ghana Cards have increased, prompting calls for a streamlined verification procedure.

A popular example is one from Ghanaian Journalist, Kofi Adoma Nwawani, who urged the NCA and telcos to put down measures to help the public get to know the numbers linked to their Ghana Card with ease.

According to the renown journalist, some people have decided to take advantage of the details of innocent people’s Ghana Cards to defraud others.

In a social media post, NCA said it has been working with the major cellular providers to introduce a shortcode that will enable customers to check the SIM card count associated with their Ghana Cards.

According to the NCA, the public will simply have to enter the shortcode on your phone, and the number of SIMs linked to your Ghana card will be displayed when you verify your identity using your card’s PIN.

When will the Ghana Card shortcode for verification be ready?

The NCA has stated that the shortcode will be operational by the end of April, eliminating the need for customers to wait in line at the numerous telecom service centers.
