MTN Ghana has launched eSIM which is also referred as embedded or Electronic SIM in Ghana. The service which was reportedly available for MTN Subscribers in Nigeria but not Ghana is now introduced.
What is an eSIM?
The eSIM is a digital SIM card preinstalled in smartphones and other mobile devices. Customers benefit from the ease of using a single SIM card for several phone numbers. Connecting smart devices like smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches is now easy to do with MTN eSIM.

Individuals and businesses can subscribe to the eSIM with either a Pay- As-You-Go (Prepaid) or Postpaid plan. The MyMTN app provides digital access to it. MTN will automatically update existing MTN customer numbers to eSIM status.
Biometric information will be collected from new members via the standard registration process with the Ghana Card. Upon successful activation of a new eSIM, the user will receive a free, permanent 10GB data bundle.
“The introduction of eSIM is in line with MTN’s vision ‘to lead the delivery of a bold, new digital world to its customers’ and fulfil its Ambition 2025 objectives. The eSIM will allow customers to access multiple devices with eSIM compatibility and enhance customer experience.
It offers subscriptions to millions of new devices without the existing SIM card logistics. It is also to enhance the customer experience with immediate connectivity for their new device.” Noel Kojo-Ganson, the Chief Commercial Officer of MTN Ghana stated among others at the launch of eSIM.
The launch of eSIM serves as good news for all mobile phone users as they could get the chance to use two networks on their smart devices easily.
