There is a new network code, 053 that MTN has introduced. Previously operating under the numbers 024, 025, 054, 055, and 059, MTN Ghana has announced the launch of a sixth network code: 053.
According to an MTN statement, SIM cards with the new 053 numbers can be purchased at any MTN-authorized sales touch point in the country.
Thus, the general public is urged to take note of the new network code added to the list of MTN codes and accept them as such.
“In this digital age, it is important we ensure that everyone is connected especially, businesses, as well as family and friends in order to bridge the digital divide. The new network code (053) will allow MTN Ghana to connect more people across the country and support businesses to thrive. Customers will also get to enjoy a vast array of services including data packages and mobile financial services” the telecommunications company’s Chief Sales and Distribution Officer, Samuel Addo stated with regards to the new network code.
The dialed number plus the appropriate prefix (in this case, 053) plus the individual customer’s phone number (053 2000000).
Customers calling internationally must enter the country code, the appropriate prefix, then their own phone number, as in (+233) 53 2000000.
Customers are also cautioned to be on the lookout for fraudsters and scammers who may try to take advantage of the new network code introduced by pretending to be MTN Ghana while in fact they are using a spoofed number. The legitimate MTN Ghana number remains 0244300000.
