A young man has been arrested and accused with stealing his girlfriend’s shoes to give to his second girlfriend as a gift.
According to reports, the Kenyan man, Ryan Lusalishi has been charged with theft under sections 268 and 275 of the penal code for stealing his lover’s laptop computer valued at KSh 25,000 (GHC 245.93) and shoes.
With reference to to Nairobi News, Lusalishi is also being accused of violating Section 323 of the Penal Code by transporting stolen or otherwise unlawfully obtained items.
The suspect allegedly carried the things, which belonged to his girlfriend Elizabeth Okumu, without her knowledge or permission, and then gave them to his other girlfriend as a gift.
How this allegedly happened
According to tuko.co.ke, the suspect’s girlfriend, Okumu’s curiosity was piqued when she got home from work and found that she was missing a few of her belongings. She discovered that her laptop computer, footwear, a backpack, and an ATM card from the Kenya Commercial Bank were stolen. The police launched their investigation when Okumu reported the incident.
Police were notified by the man’s second girlfriend that he had come home with the stolen goods. The police found him at his home and took back the bag and shoes.
When brought before Makadara Law Courts’ Principal Magistrate Gathogo Sogomo, Lusalishi, the suspect, disputed the allegations made against him.
The judge set bail at KSh 50,000 on a surety bond or, in the alternative, at KSh 30,000 in cash.
On January 31, 2023, he will return to court for a brief mention of the matter.
