In a broadly diffused video, Kennedy Agyapong rejects a customary handshake ritual with fellow MPs from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This behavior has caused murmurs among political peers. This has prompted conjectures about unhappiness related to non-support in the party’s flagbearer-ship election.
The video, set in the legislative chamber, shows the MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, as several MPs approach with outstretched hands, welcoming him after the election. Mr Agyapong chose not to reciprocate, leaving his colleagues in an awkward stance.
The video lacks verbal nuances. However, unverified sources say Agyapong’s displeasure with the party’s flagbearer-ship election results as a possible reason.
An alternative tape displayed Hon. Ken comfortably situated on the minority side. He was seen engaging in convivial exchanges with members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia came as the victor with 61.47% of the votes. Will Kennedey trailing behind him. The NPP has a major task of fostering genuine unity among its ranks as the 2024 general elections approach.
