Alfred Obeng Boateng, the Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Ahnwiaso-Bekwai, has defended his latest notes on financing the soon-to-come NPP parliamentary primaries in February 2024.
He was ready to aid delegates in his constituency to compete. Alfred Obeng put forth a possible donation of up to GHC20,000 for each of the 2000 delegates.
He issued that he had sufficient financial resources in dollars to equal or surpass his competitors’ grants.
In an interview, he explained that his intention was to pay more than what others might give, not necessarily double the amount.
Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng outlined that having money in dollars should not be perceived as hoarding or illegal activity. He pointed out that the possession of dollars is not equivalent to having contraband items.
The parliamentarian explained that he meant it as a deterrent to any form of competition, not an attempt to purchase votes.
He believed that his utterances did not warrant investigation by regulatory agencies such as the Special Prosecutor.
It is very obvious that Mr Obeng is financially ready for the campaign and election at large.
