Disregard FWSC Statement on UTAG Negotiations, It is fake and has no signature & Stamp - Prof. Gyampo

Prof Ransford Gyampo, Secretary of the University of Ghana Chapter of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), has urged the public to disregard the current press release from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) which concludes the success in negotiations with UTAG.

On Friday, march 4, 2022, a press release was spotted from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) in announcing the conclusion of negotiations with UTAG.

The content of this press statement announced a successful conclusion to the negotiations between Government and the Leadership of the University Teachers
Association of Ghana (UTAG). This, as many people interpreted, “the UTAG strike had ended successfully.”

The management of UTAG, however has not yet given an official statement in confirmation to that of FWSC.

Prof. Ransford Gyampo’s Statement of disregard

Prof. Ransford Gyampo in addressing this issue has stated that the press release from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) is fake and has no signature or stamp so people should disregard it.

According to Prof. Ransford Gyampo, It is a childish attempt at clashing leadership of
UTAG with membership. He added that the press release is fake and probably was leaked to test the pulse of UTAG and the situation at hand.

He then stated on his Facebook page that “Some decisions were taken at the two day meeting. These
were to be communicated and explained to members. Following such explanations and communications, members, though unhappy, have made very important suggestions and contributions that ought to be factored and incorporated into the decisions taken before they can be signed and released as agreements reached.”

The very important suggestions of our members are yet to be escalated to the NEC of UTAG and to the government’s side. So why this politically childish move to rush to create
the impression that all is well? If the intention was to leak this fake release just to test our pulse, then our members have responded. I have monitored their comments. It is not over until it is over”
