Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the figure behind the #FixTheCountry movement, has officially stepped down.
This decision, stems from his belief in the necessity of new leadership for the movement’s continued progress.
Barker-Vormawor stressed on the fact that it is important to have a smooth transition, envisioning a renewal with leaders not directly linked to the current ones. He sees this as a big step for the movement’s growth and progress.
Vormawor reflected on his tumultuous journey leading #FixTheCountry. He recounted setbacks, including encounters with law enforcement, disruptions to his life and education, arrests, jail time, and a travel ban.
Despite all these adversities, his influence endured. With new-born initiatives for pro bono legal representation receiving support.
Remembered and noted following an arrest in 2022, Barker-Vormawor faced trial for treason felony while leading impactful demonstrations that centered economic hardships and corruption.
Regardless of the fact that he is stepping down, his influence persists.
