Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former Minister of Food and Agriculture, is urging delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support his candidacy for the party’s flagbearer position in the upcoming primaries.
As the first farmer to run for the leadership of the opposition party in a national election, he is emphasizing his agricultural experience and accomplishments to the NPP and Ghanaians.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto believes that electing a candidate with agricultural experience will make it easier to improve the economy. The politician also added that it will help eliminate hardships in the country.
He stressed that farmers have benefitted during his six-year administration in the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. He also stated how this experience will help him produce results as the party’s flagbearer and the president of Ghana. Dr. Afriyie Akoto made these claims amidst urging delegates to rally behind him.
With a majority of Ghanaians being farmers, Dr. Afriyie Akoto is confident that his achievements in the agricultural sector will earn him the trust and support of the delegates and Ghanaians. He has left his work with the government to focus on his bid for the NPP leadership.
