The General Secretary of the Association stated that they will not resume the strike since they have been able to reach some consensus with the government.
According to him, they will be returning to the classrooms as they did a week ago and continue teaching just as they have already commenced.
Background…
Following the Association’s meeting with the Education Committee of Parliament, UTAG was urged to initiate steps to call off the industrial action.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) then decided to hold an emergency meeting on Monday to evaluate their ongoing strike action.
After the meeting, they decided to suspend their industrial action and to allow
negotiations to commence and be concluded in two weeks.
After the two weeks of teaching and negotiations, they have finally agreed not to resume the strike action, according to Dr. Asare Asante Annor, the General Secretary of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).

UTAG has been on strike since January 10 to force the government to restore the conditions of service agreed upon in 2012.
An injunction has however been placed on the strike after an appeal by the National Labour Commission (NLC).
