The OIST Research Internship Program For 2023/2024 in Japan is now open. The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) Graduate School is offering educational and research opportunities in STEM disciplines. Typically, the internship duration is between 2 and 6 months. These short-term placements provide students with the chance to develop laboratory experience or to learn a specific technique. Interns will labor under the supervision of a Professor and contribute to OIST’s research progress.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students in their final two years of a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at universities, colleges, junior colleges, or vocational institutions or graduates of these institutions.
- Currently enrolled students must have approval from their home institution.
- Academic background of applicants should be appropriate to their desired host unit(s) at OIST.
- Research Interns who belong to a Japanese university/institution are required to prepare and bring their own insurances when accepted to the OIST Research Internship program.

Benefits:
Internship Allowance
- Interns would receive JPY 2,400 per working day (Non-taxable and weekends excluded)

Travel Expenses
- Successful applicants will get the opportunity to have one direct round-trip air ticket (travel date will be closest date to the term of placement)
- OIST would assist interns with visas, insurance, and local registration. This applies to student use only excluding their family members

- Interns will be given a furnished apartment either on or off campus
