What Is Google pay?
Google Pay was formerly called Google Wallet. In January 2018, Google merged its previous Android Pay to Google Wallet to form Google Pay.
The idea is to help mobile online payment services and put all the brands under the umbrella of Google Pay or G Pay.
Google Pay is an alternative to Apple Pay. It is easy and convenient to use. All you have to do is download the app from the Google play store, set it up with your credit or debit card in Ghana, and use it for any online payment platform that accepts Google Pay service.

How To Use Google Pay
Below are the steps to set up and use Google Pay in Ghana for your online payments:
- Download the Google Pay app from the Google Play store.
- Launch the app on your phone and tap on the “Get Started Button.”
- Add your Gmail account and permit Google Pay to access your device.
- Google uses this to give you alerts on locations that accept Google Pay.
- Google Pay will ask you to authenticate your account with a password (PIN, Pattern, Password, and Fingerprint are accepted), not a facial lock.
- You’re set to start using the Google Pay app.
How To Add A Payment Method In Google Pay App
- Launch the Google Pay app on your android device.
- Tap on the Menu 亖 and click on the “Payment” tap.
- Click on “Add payment Card” to add either a credit or debit card.
- Enter your card details (Card number, expiry date, and PIN)
- Choose the onscreen options to verify your payment method.
After successfully adding your payment method, you can use the Google Pay app to make payments online, just like PayPal, Payoneer, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, etc.
How Does Google Pay Work
If you usually buy premium apps from the Google Play store, you’ll notice the “Buy With google Pay” button in apps.
This means you can purchase the app with your Google Pay account without entering your credit card info or shipping address each time you make a purchase.
Again, most online and physical shops accept Google Pay in their transactions. If you want to buy items from a shop with your Google Pay, search whether the shop accepts Google Pay in the first place.
You can use Google Pay with almost any contactless payment terminal. If the merchant’s terminal supports “chip” credit card payments, it nearly supports Google Pay payments.

Possibly, yes. When you’re paying in-store, Google said Google Pay doesn’t share your exact card details. Instead, the merchant receives a unique encrypted number.
