Ghanaian Celebrities react to introduction of new taxes by the government

Ghanaian celebrities have negatively reacted to the government‘s introduction of new taxes.

The likes of John Dumelo, Prince David Osei and Nana Aba Anamoah have taken to social media to condemn the government’s decision to add new taxes to the already existing ones. According to actor-turned- politician, John Dumelo, the government’s way of managing taxes is not fair. Obviously, He disagrees with the fact that Ghanaians are to pay for the freebies they benefited during the lockdown period (Coronavirus period in 2020). John Dumelo stated  point blank that the government has lied through his teeth to the Ghanaian populace.

Prince David Osei, who campaigned for the party in power, also reacted to the news. Prince appeared to be very much disappointed in the government for taking that decision. The renowned actor revealed that he encouraged people to vote for President Nana Addo and the NPP in order to continue enjoying the freebies. However, the president’s move according to Prince David has rendered those who supported him stupid. He used the same channel to pray the president, to find another way of gathering lost funds due to the freebies. He believes the president can find any other means other than extorting money from the citizens.
Also reacting is tough skin woman, Nana Aba Anamoah. She took to social media to share her take on the matter. In her opinion, responsible citizens will talk about the situation. This is because they are either content with the government’s choice or not. Either ways, they with talk. However, die hard supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) want to shut citizens up on social media. She calls such people “attacking dogs”. The ace journalist went on to ask the “attacking dogs” if they are okay. Ending her post she made it clear that, even the president will not enjoy ruling an autocratic government.
