How to clean Airpods

Apple Inc. AirPods are wireless Bluetooth earbuds. They were initially revealed alongside the iPhone 7 on September 7, 2016. They became Apple’s most popular accessory in just two years. They’re Apple’s budget wireless headphones, available alongside the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.

The AirPods have a microphone that filters out background noise, as well as built-in accelerometers and optical sensors that detect taps and pinches (e.g. double-tap or pinch to pause audio) and positioning within the ear, which allows for automatic audio pausing when they are removed.

Due to its design, people have wondered how to get things done well whenever they want to clean it. Get to know how to clean your Airpods in this write up.

Tips on How to clean Airpods

Because the earbuds are the most delicate element of your AirPods, they must be handled with care. Applying too much pressure to the speaker mesh is not a good idea. This will only drive dirt further into the earphone and may even dislodge the speaker mesh.

You can wipe the outside of the earphones with a gentle cloth, as Apple suggests. You can dampen the cloth a little and try again if there is any discoloration or persistent filth. Remember to clean the sensors as well.

Clean the grill area with a Q-tip first, as Apple suggests. If it doesn’t work, a sharp, pointed object, such as a toothpick, will probably do the trick. Gradually scrape the surface with the tip.

Another option is to clean down your AirPods with a dry sponge and then remove any embedded dirt with a medium- or firm-bristled toothbrush.

Tips on How to clean Airpods PRO

The silicone tips on AirPods Pro create a tighter seal in your ear. These tips can be removed for simpler cleaning. Apple recommends removing them and soaking them in water until they appear fresh. Allow them to thoroughly dry before reattaching them.

Never put the AirPods Pro in the water by themselves! They’re not waterproof, but they’re water-resistant. After removing the silicon tips, wiping off the AirPods Pro with a dry or moist cloth should be simple.

If there’s any junk inside the speaker canal, use one of the methods listed above to clean it out. Just remember not to use too much pressure when cleaning.

Tips to clean Charging Case

The only method to get deep inside the hinge area is to clean the charging case with a medium- or firm-bristle toothbrush. To get rid of the particularly tough things, you might wish to dampen the brush.

You may find it difficult to remove some dirt due to the repeated compression created by opening and closing the case. If a moist cloth or toothbrush don’t work, use a Q-tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol to clean the area (never spray alcohol or water directly on the case). To eliminate the filth, rub the Q-tip over the region. Please be patient; this may take some time.

Don’t overlook the Lightning port on the charging case’s bottom. Cleaning this region with a wooden toothpick works wonderfully.

To clean charging ports, you can use something with a thin metal tip, such as a SIM key or an unfolded paperclip (as we’ve seen Apple Store personnel do).

Be Careful

Bleach and other aggressive cleaning solutions can restore the whiteness of your AirPods, but they can also harm the plastic. These chemicals also tend to leave residue on surfaces, and putting bleach in your ear is probably not a good idea.

Finally, even if you have the water-resistant AirPods Pro, avoid submerging them in water. Because your AirPods are constantly on when you take them out of the case, even an inadvertent dunk is likely to be disastrous.
