Mbappe makes ’biggest dream‘ declaration amid Liverpool & Real Madrid links

Kylian Mbappe has dealt a blow to his admirers but outlining his intention to win the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe, 22, has been heavily linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid over the last year amid ongoing uncertainty over his contract situation at Le Parc des Princes.

The Frenchman has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal and PSG chiefs have made little progress in extension talks despite months of negotiations.

But Mbappe’s latest interview suggests he still sees his future with the Ligue 1 giants – at least for another season – as he is targeting more silverware with his hometown club.

The World Cup winner declared his “biggest dream” is to lift the Champions League with PSG while speaking to Neymar for the club’s official magazine, per Marca .

During his exchange with the Brazilian, Mbappe said: “I’m not very good as a journalist. What would I ask Neymar? What is your big dream for you after everything you’ve achieved?”

Neymar responded: “My biggest dream with PSG is to win the Champions League and with Brazil to win the World Cup. And for you, Kylian, is it to win the Champions League, right?”

Mbappe questioned “Why not another World Cup?”, to which Neymar said: “No, the next World Cup is for me. I ask Kylian the same thing. What is your next big dream after winning the World Cup?”

Mbappe then admitted he is also set on tasting Champions League glory with PSG, saying: “My biggest dream is to win the Champions League with PSG, that would be fantastic.

“But winning another World Cup would be very good too.”

While Neymar won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, Mbappe has never won European club football’s greatest honour.

PSG were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich in the final in 2020 and exited the competition at the semi-final stage last season with defeat by Manchester City.

But, as he pointed out to his teammate, Mbappe does boast a World Cup winners’ medal from France’s triumph in 2018, whereas Neymar has not won a major honour at international level.

PSG successfully tied down Neymar to a new long-term deal last season which extended the 29-year-old’s stay until 2025.

But sporting director Leonardo has failed to find such a breakthrough in talks with Mbappe and reports in France claimed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has taken charge of negotiations.

Al-Khelaifi previously proclaimed PSG would “never sell” Mbappe – but the club may be forced to do so or risk losing him for free next summer, should he decide against signing a new deal.
