Real Madrid midfielder and Belgium star Eden Hazard has announced retirement from international football at age 31.

The former Chelsea star Officially announced his retirement on his Instagram page.

The 31-year-old has decided against participating in yet another qualification cycle for the upcoming 2024 European Championships and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Hazard has retired from international play after 14 years, just days after Belgium was eliminated in the group stage in Qatar.

Hazard’s decision to end his international career after Belgium’s dismal defeat from the group stage will be understood. After a rough few years, especially after leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid, he plans to put all of his energy into reviving his club career.
