Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

In a 67-word statement, Man United said Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave the club by mutual agreement, without mentioning his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan last week but instead praising his “immense contribution.”

Manchester United announced the following;

“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch”.

Mutual consent has been reached on Ronaldo’s departure, however it is currently unknown if the 37-year-old Portugal star was fired or was compensated for the seven months left on his £500,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo nets brace on Manchester United debut

It is clear that Manchester United did not give specific reasons for the immediate termination of contract, however, many have expressed that the decision is based on the bombshell interview last week from the Portuguese Foward.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be leaving Manchester United with immediate effect. After leaving United, he will be free to sign with any club willing to sign him once the January transfer window opens.
