Comoros has never had the chance to partake in the African Cup of Nations’ tournament.

Currently, the country is celebrating one of its greatest achievement. Comoros is mostly known for music and coup d’états rather than sporting activities. At the sound of the final whistle of their match against Togo, the joy and jubilation was wild amidst players and supporters of the team.

Comoros has been attempting to pass the qualifier stage for both African Cup of Nations and World Cup all to no avail. Therefore, this is quite a historical moment for them. The Comoros National Football team has come this far with the help of Amir Abdou, their coach.

Amir Abdou who was optimistic, continue to push the team from 2014 to date. Thanks to him, the team has finally qualified for AFCON 2022. Comoros happens to be the eighth team to qualify for the African Cup of nations’ tournament in Cameroon.

They joined Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia, defending champions Algeria and the host nation, Cameroon.
Similarly, The Gambia made it to the African Cup of Nation for the first time. Gambia also beat Angola with a 1- 0 score at home on Thursday.

It appears weaker teams are gradually making their way to the top.
Half of the teams for next year’s AFCON tournament are as follows: Ghana, Gabon, Egypt, Senegal, Comoros, The Gambia, Algeria, Tunisia, Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso and Cameroon. AFCON 2022 is anticipated to begin in January.
