Black Stars coach, CK Akonnor has named Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Steadfast FC, Ibrahim Danlad of Asante kotoko and Dream FC’s Philemon Baffour as part of the AFCON qualifiers squad.
The news is present on the official website of Ghana Football Association (GFA). Abdul Fatawu Issahaku first captained Ghana’s team for the Wafu Zone B cup in Togo. As if that was not enough, he scored a spectacular goal at the U20 AFCON final against Tanzania. This audacious goal drew a lot of attention to him. His goal led Ghana to a 4: 0 victory. Abdul Fatawu also bagged the Best Player of the Tournament title. Due to his great performances, the Black stars coach summoned him to the Black Stars camp ahead of the AFCON qualifiers.
C.K Akonnor, called up Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Ibrahim Danlad as well as Philemon Baffour from Dream FC who also put outstanding performances in their various teams. They will join the team for training in order to meet South Africa and Sao Tome boot for boot. The three wonderful players are set to join the team on Tuesday, 16 March 2021 for the necessary preparation for the two outstanding matches.
Ghana will meet the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on 25 March 2021 before taking on São Tomé. The match will take place in South Africa. Ghana is scheduled to host São Tomé four days after playing with South Africa. Currently, The Black Stars is leading Group C with 9 points. They are doing their best to get a ticket to AFCON 2022 in Cameroon.
Since the likes of Dede Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku just to mention a few form part of the 29-man squad, we are positive that the Black Stars will qualify and participate in the 2022 AFCON. We also anticipate that they bring the trophy home this time around.
