The Joint Japan World Bank Scholarship is a scholarship program for nationals of selected countries from the global south. The scholarship program’s objective is to help international students of the global south who have experience in the development sector and are looking to earn a graduate or master’s degree in a program related to development.
Applicants must be accepted to 48 programs in the United States, Japan, Oceania, various countries in Europe and Africa in order to be selected for the Joint Japan/World Bank Scholarship Program. If an applicant does not receive admittance to any of the 48 graduate programs, they are unqualified for the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program.
After completing their two-year graduate degrees, the applicants will go back to their respective countries in the global south, where they will use their education and skills earned through the scholar program and help their country develop economically and socially.

Eligibility Criteria :
Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply for the scholarship:
Have citizenship of one of the eligible countries (note: please insert this hyperlink on the words ‘eligible.
Have completed a Bachelor’s degree no less than three years before applying for the scholarship program.
Applicants have at least three years of full-time work experience after the completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
Have no major health issues.
Have no relatives (through blood, marriage, or adoption) that work for the World Bank.
Have employment in the development sector when applying for the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program.
Minimum of three years of employment in the development sector after completing an accredited Bachelor’s degree.
All eligibility criteria must be fulfilled when applying for the World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program. If an applicant does not meet all the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program requirements, they will not be considered. No exceptional cases will be considered.

Applicants will be assessed based on:
- Work experience (30% weightage)
- Applicants strive to improve the social and economic facets of their home country (30% weightage)
- Educational strength (10% weightage)
- Recommendations (30% weightage)
The scholarship program aims to ensure that the recipients of the graduate scholarship are equally of both genders and all eligible countries. The scholarship program also strives to ensure that all applicants’ special or typical conditions will be considered and look at all applicants’ financial strength.
Application Process:
Applicants must apply to one of the 48 graduate programs that the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program provides funding for. Suppose they have successfully got admission to one of the 48 eligible graduate programs. In that case, they must apply for the scholarship program between March 22, 2021, and May 21, 2021.
