Here is the 2023 AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship. American University is providing international students who wish to study in the United States the Emerging Global Leader Scholarships.
The fully financed scholarship encourages educational opportunity and access while fostering global diversity.
For Fall 2023, there is just one AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship available.
However, a partial merit scholarships may be available to you if you decide to submit another application after being rejected as the 2023 AU EGL recipient.
Eligibility Criteria For 2023 AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship
- Students who are still in secondary/high school and will graduate in June 2023.
- International students who have overcome numerous barriers and hardships, as well as students from varied and underrepresented global and socioeconomic backgrounds, are encouraged to apply
- A minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent out of 4.0 GPA (or in the top 10% of graduating class) for 9th-12th grades.
- A track record of community involvement, volunteerism, leadership, and advancing the needs of people in their own country
- Students with one of the following:
- 95+ TOEFL iBT (all subscores must be 20 or above)
- Sub-scores of 24+ on the paper-based TOEFL (Taken after May 31, 2017)
- 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores must be 6.0 or above)
- 33 minimum SAT Reading subscore
- 29 minimum ACT English
- 65 minimum PTE
- 120+ Duolingo (all subscores must be 110 or above)
- Cambridge Assessment English score of 185 or higher. Each sub-score must be 169 or higher.
You are NOT eligible to apply if:
- You are a United States citizen, permanent resident, pending permanent resident, or dual citizen of the United States and another nation.
- You have already started or are currently enrolled in any post-secondary studies at a different university in your own country or the US.
- You finished high school before the year 2021
Benefits:
- Full payment of tuition fees.
- The scholarship will take care of accommodation
- Renewal is possible for up to four further years of undergraduate study with the AU EGL scholarship, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Application Closing Date: December 15, 2022, or by January 15, 2023 at the latest.
