Over 20 Students of Islamic Senior High School (SHS) in Kumasi has been injured and rushed to the hospital after the Police allegedly Opened Fire to disperse crowd.
According to sources, the officers were sent to the school to keep things under control. The clash between the police and the students is what has caused this unfortunate incident.
How did it happen?
According to reports, the victims were members of a group of students who stopped the Abrepo Junction-Barekese road in protest of pedestrian collisions involving school kids and teachers.

In a heated protest on the road, they demanded that speed rumps be constructed on that stretch of road.
According to reports, there was vehicular and foot traffic on this section of road for more than an hour before the police were summoned to help clear it; leading to this unfortunate incident.
Effects of Incident
According to the Ghana Ambulance Service, there are about 20 – 30 student victims of the Islamic SHS alleged shooting in the hospital who are injured.
Sommit Duut, the Regional Director of the Service has also stated that all sufferers are responding to treatment accordingly.
He emphasized, however, that they had not treated any catastrophic injuries comparable to gunshot wounds.
He said all that they’ve treated so far are just students with breathing difficulties and those who were weary; there was no bloody incident.
He added that the victims are all doing well, they are responding to treatment, and have not received any unfavorable feedback from the hospital as of yet.
Effects on Academic Work (Islamic SHS Alleged Shooting)
Due to the incident, academic work is being held up as parents visit the school to see how their children are doing, despite the high level of security in place.
