National Cathedral Can Make Ghana A New Jerusalem- Ofori-Attah

National Cathedral

The National Cathedral, a contentious topic in the country, was looked at by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Attah at the Ghana Tourism Investment Summit 2023.

He elaborated on a vision where the cathedral transforms Ghana into a new Jerusalem, boosting tourism and the economy.

Ofori-Attah stated that the cathedral has the ability of becoming a pilgrimage site for millions of African Christians, akin to Mecca for Muslims.

He talked about the economic benefits, anticipating visitors spending an average of $3,000 per person, contributing significantly to the country’s prosperity.

The finance minister pleaded with the government to thoroughly assess how the cathedral could contribute to Ghana’s economic growth.

In his words, “Imagine Ghana as the new Jerusalem, with 600 million African Christians spending $3,000 each—a transformative reality.”

While accepting the hush-hush surrounding the National Cathedral, Ofori-Attah, prayed considering it as part of the infrastructure that shapes a society with a strong, resilient, and robust future.

In essence, he sees the cathedral not just as a religious edifice but as a catalyst for economic growth, inviting dialogue on its role in shaping Ghana’s future.

The finance minister’s vision aligns with leveraging the National Cathedral to create a new narrative for Ghana, one that attracts visitors and propels economic development.
