Nana Addo Begs Teachers To End Strike For The Sake Of BECE Candidates

The President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has begged teachers that for the sake of BECE candidates, to end their strike action.

The President advised teachers to prepare for the upcoming BECE exam, which is required of junior high school students in their third year.

Labor unrest in the education sector has prompted the President’s announcement.

Teachers from four unions have gone on strike for the past week because of poor working conditions and stagnant wages.

Teachers, citing worsening economic conditions, are asking for a living allowance to cover their expenses.

For the benefit of the students, the President begged teachers to reconsider their decision to end the strike.
In addition, he urged Ghanaians to bear with the government in terms of the strangulation of covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
An undisclosed sum of money was donated by President Obama to the National Chief Imam in support of the Independence Square Eid Fitr celebrations.
