Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Energy, has reported that Ghana’s journey to implementing the Cylinder Recirculation Module (CRM) policy by 2030 is advancing with the launch of five auto gas stations by GOIL PLC.
These stations signify a significant milestone in Ghana’s energy policy. The policy seeks to adopt natural gas for power generation and transportation.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized that GOIL’s opening of these modern autogas stations aligns with Ghana’s just energy transition path towards achieving a net-zero status.

The five newly commissioned stations are located in various regions, including the Central, Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western Regions. The Takoradi-based Paco Gas Station is currently awaiting final approval from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
Dr. Opoku Prempeh also stated that the establishment of more auto gas stations will catalyze the growth of businesses and services. This will support the transition to gas-powered vehicles, including specialized retrofitting and servicing garages.
Ms. Esther Anku from the NPA encouraged GOIL to embrace technological innovations. She said that this will enhance customer experiences and maintain safety measures at these facilities.
Mr. Kwame Osei-Prempeh, Group CEO of GOIL, highlighted the company’s commitment to national interests and safety for consumers. GOIL is also constructing two Cylinder Bottling Plants. This further expands its portfolio in addition to the five modern Auto Gas stations.
These new stations are the result of a partnership with South Korea’s Yooju Engineering and Construction Limited. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries and officials from energy-related organizations.
