Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has called upon leaders in public and private institutions to avoid using National Service Personnel (NSP) as mere messengers.

In a speech, Bagbin pleaded for NSP not to be used just for errand.

He placed emphasis on the importance of the national service period. He drew a line toward how national service promotes growth in these young people.

Mr. Bagbin’s plea came at the launch of the Golden Jubilee anniversary of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in Accra. He spoke on the theme, “National Service at 50: Repositioning the Scheme for a Sustainable National Development.”

He was not happy with instances where institutions mistreated service personnel, sometimes denying them basic office facilities. The speaker made it clear that this period prepares them for the professional world.
